Welcome to One Car Garage, in which I choose a manufacturer, and you decide one single vehicle that they make or made (no matter how old, no matter how exclusive) to live with for the rest of your life. This is your only vehicle, and all expenses are paid for, including price of entry, insurance, gas, etc.
Though !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! was fun, it's time to take a short flight down to France, where we'll be choosing our lifer from the ancient manufacturer Peugeot.

As you may have noticed by now, I'm quite a fan of automobiles that will get me from point A to B even in adverse conditions via the use of all-wheel-drive. I feel that it's only responsible of me (you know, for safety's sake) to choose these capable vehicles. I'm going to continue this trend today by choosing for myself the 205 T16. I'll keep the road-going variant though, as it's undoubtedly more refined and comfortable than it's 424 bhp Group B prepped brother. Hell, it's merely a hot hatch; who'd argue with that!? Oh, and you guessed it, I'll have mine in white.

I'm going to go with one of their LMP1 entries this time. 908 I think? The only reason I need to provide is because racecar.

There are a lot of great Peugeot's but I would have to go with the 406 coupe

I could live with a 404 cabrio, especially if I was as cool as this:
But I think the 505 cabrio would be much more practical and nearly as cool:
However, I had completely forgotten about the 401 and 402 Eclipse coupe cabrios. I think the 402 is the better looking of the two:

I don't know much about Peugeot because I'm american :(
But I'm in love with this little piece of racecar insanity

Oooh, wonderful choices. Not being terribly familiar with Peugeot, I didn't know these glorious machines existed.

504 coupé for me
Also, I would take it with the four banger instead of the infamous V6.

May I compliment you on your fine choice?
I'm trying to find some nice wheels to use for winter tires. What do you think. Will 205 GTI wheels look nice? They will fit just fine, offset is only 6 mm off and they're a bit narrower than the stock Starfish rims I use for summer tires. Which is ideal for winter tires.

I'd have me a 106 with the 1.6L 16Valve engine. 120 horses in a small econobox is waay too much fun to resist!

I knew someone on oppo owned a 406. I am insanely jealous of you my friend. My opinion for winter wheels are anything that you can bang around in that won't damage your nice wheels is good, living in California this isn't really a concern. However I think your choice is an excellent one, instead of going for steelies you are going for something OEM that still looks stylish and is still incredibly functional, I say go for it, I am not sure what the market for 205 wheels is like but I can't imagine it being expensive.

I also have a love affair with this style of wheels
But I don't think they would look as good on a 406

Well I already live with a 504 diesel wagon and a Turbo S 505 wagon, which you can certainly take the costs of owning over for me...I guess I would have to go ultra exclusive. Does this work?
I will even use the starter cart required to start it and the team of mechanics. Or really any other requirement

To tease a little; in the background you'll see my car with another 406 coupe (the red one) we accidentally found parked.... on top of a mountain in the Swiss Alps after an amazing drive over the San Bernardino Pass. Which is a road I recommend enthusiastically.

They're hubcaps as far as I know, and I doubt those 13 or maybe 14 inch wheels would even allow room for my brakes. The 406 coupe weighs almost twice as much as a base 205 from the 80s (this one has the 83-90 taillights).

If I am ever in the Swiss Alps I'll definitely check it out, it looks fantastic. How is the elevation change?

I'm no expert. I hadn't even thought of the 402 until I ran across it while looking for pictures of a 404. The 505 was just a prototype, sadly. They also did a coupe prototype:
My mum had a 505 estate when I was a kid, and I hated it, but that was mainly because the third row of seats was so cramped.

I think this screenshot of the nav system on my phone will give you an idea of some of the elevation on the 'worst' part. Here's a google maps link which will show the elevation. The marked A is where the picture was taken, the screenshot was taken a little earlier, up north. Great driving road, great views, very little traffic. Perfect.
Edit: a steeper part of the descent:

Same problem here as Decay. I'm also going to play the American card and say I don't know much about Peugeots. I will take whatever this is, if its not too much trouble...

It's the Oxia concept from 1988, and you're in luck because it actually has an engine and everything, it's actually drivable whereas its sisters the Proxima and the Quasar weren't. As for the stats, well : 680bhp V6, 4WD and four wheel steering. So a pretty good choice ! You'll have to convince Peugeot to take it out of their museum for you though.

There is only one right answer to this question.
Although saying that, I could live with a 505 Turbo, 106 GTi or 404 Injection quite happily.

Wow, tough one. I'm torn between the 406 coupé (because sexy Pininfarina mini-GT),
the 205 GTi (do I need to explain myself ?),
and a rally-spec 504 coupé V6 (because why the hell not ?).
Can I have them all ? Pretty please ?

Sweet! Thanks for the ID. If "all expenses are paid for, including price of entry" I'm sure I can convince them to give it to me so i can drive it forever.

It's tempting to say a 504, because the "Break" estate is nigh-on indestructible and the Coupé is probably the best looking road car Peugeot has made, with the RCZ running it reasonably close.
But really, Peugeot is at its absolute best when it's making hot hatches (just ignore the x07 ones...), so it'll have to be one of those. But which one? 205 GTi? 106 GTi? 306 GTi-6? One of the stripped-bare "Rallye" versions?
Hmm. Well, a 205 would be very tempting for obvious reasons, but a 106 GTi is the same size (almost to the inch) and newer, thus safer and more reliable and easier to get parts for. A 306 is bigger and has 6 gears, though...
Y'know what? Fuck it. I'll get a 205 GTi and then give it the full suite from Pug1Off :
Based on this snippet from an evo review, I'm sold on the idea!
"The 195
[bhp]
engine is magnificent, with plenty of snort and rort from 5000rpm all the way to the 7800rpm limiter, yet happy enough to work smoothly below its optimum go-zone. It sounds sensational in the upper reaches of the rev range, with a bark that’s borderline BDA and a scintillating throttle response that begs you to brrapp-brrapp every single downshift.
"What’s really impressive about the Pug1Off is that deep down it still feels like a 205 to drive, just much, much quicker and far, far angrier than they ever were from the factory. The chassis balance is little short of inspirational, with a fabulously on-the-nose feeling as you turn in, yet with a seemingly infinite range of throttle adjustability all the way to the heart of the corner. And because you know exactly what each end of the car is doing, the 205’s infamous lift-off oversteer is something to be exploited rather than feared
."

I recon it'll be great. I don't think I've ever read anything bad about the RCZ : it's gorgeous, it's affordable, it drives well, and everyone says the chassis could definitely handle more power. Now with 270bhp and a limited slip dif ? Yes please !

504 wagon. Diesel please, four speed manual. I had one...loved it dearly. Wildly underpowered and heavy with narrow tires, it was the first car up the street when we had 20 inches of snow in central North Carolina. Unstoppable. HUGE interior...and the best seats this pair of cheeks has ever experienced.
